Top 10 Found Footage Horror Films

There has been so many found footage horror films lately so, why not share with you all my Top 10 Found Footage Horror Films?

Want to know something? I love found footage horror films! Doing this list was tough but still entertaining. Found footage is filmed by a character(s), therefore, do not expect perfect shots or angles! Found footage films has been abused before but when it's done right it's beyond nerve wrecking and completely creepy.

Below is my list of Top 10 Found Footage Horror Films! I hope you enjoy it...and if you don't I don't care.

Europa Report (2013)

Due to a single-celled life exists on one of Jupiter's moons, six astronauts embark on a deadly-fated exploratory mission. This film is more sic-fi but it definitely has horror elements. I didn't think I would like this film but surprisingly I really enjoyed this!

Grave Encounters (2011)

Many people were completely convinced by this film and they believe that it's REAL. Which I think is SUPER awesome for a found footage film. I mean it does seem like it's real due to the set up. The storyline follows a ghost investigation series that head to an abandoned psychiatric hospital. Unfortunately for this team they checked in and can't check out! This film will definitely leave a lasting impression! I highly recommend this film not so much the sequel.

Cloverfield (2008)

Love or hate...it's on MY list. Regardless of everyone else's thoughts on this film I loved it! As a group of New Yorkers are enjoying a party when it's horrifically interrupted by creatures the size of skyscraper rising from the water and , little do they know that they will soon face the most terrifying night of their lives. A creature the size of a skyscraper descends upon the city, leaving death and destruction in its wake. Using a handheld video camera, the friends record their struggle to survive as New York crumbles around them.

The Poughkeepsie Tapes (2007)

This film is so intense! This film shows the collection of over 200 hours of videotape shot by a serial killer, found in a house in Poughkeepsie, New York. Majority of the film consists of the footage the killer took of himself stalking, torturing and ultimately killing his victims.

Megan is Missing (2011)

What's scary about this film is the fact that it happens every single day. Two teenage girls encounter an internet predator. The last 25 minutes of the film is so awful!

V/H/S (2012)

A gang is hired by an unknown third party to burglarize a desolate house and acquire a rare VHS tape. Once they arrive the gang discover more found footage than they bargained for. This is a horror anthology that's completely unnerving and creepy! My favorite short is Amateur Night. "I like you."

Cannibal Holocaust (1980)

Although this Italian blood bath is told partially in found footage format I had to put it on the list! A rescue mission discovers a documentary film crew's missing tapes! *GASP* What's even more mind blowing is what's on those tapes reveal with the Amazonian cannibals.

The Taking of Deborah Logan (2014)

A woman named Mia records the daily lives of Deborah and her daughter Sarah as part of her thesis assignment. As the days goes on, weird...I meant REAL weird things happen around Deborah and it starts to become apparent that something satanic has taken control of her. This film was phenomenal and there's a scene that freaked me out so much, I absolutely loved it.

[REC] (2007)

Quarantine was inspired by this awesome Spain horror. A TV reporter and her cameraman document a local fire department's night activities. Out of all the nights in the world there's an emergency call to apartment building that just so happens to turn out to be site of a viral outbreak that turns the inhabitants into violent zombies. Definitely one of my absolute favorite horrors! Highly recommended to all.

The Blair Witch Project (1999)

I had to put this as #1! It has been about 16 years since The Blair Witch Project kicked down our doors with the idea of the found-footage horror film! Unbelievable! Still creeps me out to this day. Because of this film I may name my future cat baby "Josh".
