A horror comedy with gore and laughs? I’m in!
It’s an hilarious, yet strangely insightful film with a heart felt message! Two redneck guys, Tucker and Dale, purchase a secluded, run-down vacation cabin near a lake. On the way to check it out, they stop at a gas station where they encounter college kids also headed to the lake for a weekend of partying. Dale notices one of the college girls named Allison and instantly falls for her! As any supportive would, Tucker encourages Dale to be brave and to talk to her! He also suggests to Dale to laugh a lot because it shows confidence. What horrible advice! Dale’s approach is more terrifying than awkward. He convinces the students that he is a psychotic, murderous hillbilly!
Let’s fast forward! Tucker and Dale take time to kick back and fish by the lake, while the college students swim on the other side. Too much fun leads to Allison slipping on a rock, hitting her head and sinking into the water. Of course, Dale rescues her, but since the college students still believe that he and Tucker are hillbilly murderers, they deduce that Allison has been kidnapped! Once Allison awakens, she fears for her life. But over time, Dale and Allison discover that they have a lot in common and enjoy spending time together.
I’ll stop right there to avoid spoilers! Just know that this film is centered around this big misunderstanding, which sets the foundation for a comedy filled with gruesome deaths and amazing laughs!
Overall, this film is a gem made for horror fans while providing some comedy! Ok, fine..it’s filled with blood and guts, but it also has a message with the old saying, never judge a book by its cover! I liked Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, and I definitely recommend it! So, whenever you have the time I say watch it. it’s worth it!
3½ out 5 queen skulls!
