FILM -- The House on the Wrong Side of the Tracks

If you choose to invade a couple's home while capturing it all on camera, just make sure the couple doesn't have a psycho son who never moved out.


The House on the Wrong Side of the Tracks is directed by Arthur Leo Collins and is a found footage, modern twist home invasion film! The film follows three losers; Ray, the big mouth psycho; his needy, spoiled wanna-be girlfriend Liz and Ray's brother Nathan, whose filming it all. These three friends decide it would be fun to invade the house of a middle aged couple while capturing it on camera so they can watch it later. I'm not too sure how robbing and trashing someone's home would be fun but...what do I know? Fast forward, the three losers invade the couple's home and things are going according to plan before all comes crashing down once the couple's disabled son interrupts and turns the table! The invaders become prisoners and discover that they chose the wrong family who are beyond crazy. 

The first twenty five minutes of The House on the Wrong Side of the Tracks I thought was a bit dry and boring. Sorry! It just seemed like the director was just filming randomly for the first twenty or thirty minutes, hoping it would turn into something; especially when the three actors were standing by probably the world's longest train passing while Ray is talking about what he does. I don't really see the point of that scene at all. Honestly, I feel like they should have had a better twenty-five minute opening. As far as it goes with the acting, it wasn't the greatest; however, it was pretty good since it's an independent film. The three losers were surprisingly entertaining to watch! The middle aged couple who they invaded were pretty psychotic yet entertaining as well. However, the wife looked like a giggler and once again, I don't see the amusement in that!




There were many things in the film that looked amateurish, but because it was an independent film, I'm willing to be a bit more understanding. However! The body in the bathtub looked like a mannequin and that was not acceptable. Also! The house that was invaded has posters on the walls like Planet Terror and Death Proof, which was questionable. Both films are awesome, so I'm not questioning the owner of the posters taste; however, it simply did not fit the setting. If I were among those trios and saw horror film posters on the wall, I would know immediately that I need to run out the door. 

Overall, I recommend this film to people who love independent horror films and are looking for something new! Plus, it was pretty cool to see the invaders on the other side of the fence!
