Whelp! World War Z almost beat it out already and it's only it's FIRST weekend. How awesome is that? So far, it's at $66 million! At this rate, clearly it will earn more than enough.
I'll will post up my review/thoughts on World War Z tomorrow for my Madhouse Monday's!
It wasn't an instant classic for me but it was entertaining and that's all I ask. I'm a simple girl. I guess we all have The Walking Dead to thank for bringing a wider audience to zombies.
Though, some of us were ALREADY zombie fans! Ahem. Just saying!
Anyhow, here's the results for this weekend!
2. World War Z – $66,000,000
3. Man of Steel – $41,215,000
4. This Is The End – $13,000,000
5. Now You See Me – $7,870,000
6. Fast & Furious 6 – $4,725,000
7. The Internship – $3,425,000
8. The Purge – $3,412,000
9. Star Trek Into Darkness – $3,000,000
10. Iron Man 3 – $2,175,000
As you probably already know, I thought "World War Z" sucked balls. It's not just because it's yet another zombie movie, but it's boring with it. It should be called "World War Zzzzzzz".
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. At times it was a snooze or just predictable. ;\
DeleteIt's a shame that WWZ turned out so poor, considering how good the book was, how spot on the project sounded early in production, and especially considering that the book was written by Mel Brooks kid! You'd think that they'd have had the experience to keep it out of development hell. S'shame.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to add one other thing. It's fine to keep an eye on ticket sales numbers, but do keep in mind that Hollywood works closely with the cia, and a HUGE percentage of their numbers comes from money laundering, so it's not a great indicator of real fan success.
That is very true with the huge percentage, I never thought to look at it that way.
DeleteI think I'll just stick with 'The Walking Dead'. On the one hand, it's great to see a zombie movie doing so well at the box office, but I just can't stand Brad Pitt, so I'll be giving this one a miss. I'm sure Brad won't be too devastated. Haha. ;)
ReplyDeleteWow! Thats the first time I ever heard anyone say that about Brad Pitt! Usually people worship him. I'm glad to get a different perspective! In the movie he didn't do bad, he did a great job but I can understand how you feel!
DeleteI don't know Brad may call you up & beg for you to watch! :P
