FILM -- Prom Night

This remake isn't a remake...in fact, to me, it just so happens to have the same title as the 1980 classic Prom Night, directed by Paul Lynch and starring Jamie Lee Curtis.

Anyhow, this review is on the 2008 -- Prom Night, directed by Nelson McCormick and released April 11th, 2008. The film starts off with a young girl named Donna who returns home one night to find that her psycho stalking teacher, Mr. Richard Fenton, has murdered her whole family except for her mom...at least not yet. Donna hides underneath the bed, covering her mouth and watching her teacher who demands to see Donna at once. Furious at not receiving an answer, he stabs her mother several times as she watches!

Poor Donna is clutching over her own mouth in horror, witnessing her mom being gutted. Blah, blah...the police come and stop Mr. Fenton and his pure BLOODY sheningans. Fast forward three years later--Donna survives that splatter party and Mr. Richard Fenton is somewhere in a psycho ward.

Donna still has nightmares about her splatter witnessing but she’s coping. She's ready to party since prom night is right around the corner. She has a loving boyfriend and four other friends to party with. Unfortunately, for Donna and friends, Mr. Fenton has escaped! (SCARY MUISC PLAYS) He's in shadows watching Donna and anyone who gets too close to her all night long. I'll stop there to avoid spoilers--in case anyone is interested in seeing this flick!

I remember back in '08, I actually wanted to see this movie. I went to the theaters and all. Yep...I sure did. Anyhow. I was disappointed in this movie but it's not as HORRID as people claim it to be. It's actually entertaining in a cliche-I-know-what's-going-to-happen kinda way. It's NOTHING like Prom Night 1980 as I stated before, they made it into something else, which really isn't too horrible since remakes are happening regardless of my endless rants. I just wish that they explained/showed WHY Mr. Fenton was so obsessed with Donna. It was weird because they never did...like ever.

Sooo....this movie was predictable but entertaining. I wouldn't really recommend this movie unless you'd only plan on watching this movie once. That would be good enough. Also, I guess I can see why some people liked it. Anyhow, because I wasn't completely disgusted with this movie, just lost and scramble-y sometimes, I'm going to give this film 2 out of 5 queen skulls.

Has anyone seen this movie? More importantly, did you go to your prom?

TRAILER -- The Zombinator

Director Sergio Myers wants to introduce you to his new cult hero, The Zombinator. Currently seeking distribution, The Zombinator hopes to be coming to a theater near you very soon.

The film is about a fashion blogger documentary that turns into a zombie horror nightmare when college students in Youngstown, Ohio come eye to eye with the undead! Ohhhh!! And now, their only hope of survival is a former soldier turned zombie killer. This guy is trying to protect them from a mercenary working for an evil corporation who developed the serum that causes people to become zombies or perhaps take on-- zombie-ISM???? Anyway! For more info on this film, be sure to check out and support their Facebook! Check out the trailer below! It totally rocked my life and I can't wait to check out the actual movie!

FILM POSTER -- The Possession

On August 31st, 2012 this awesometastical film directed by Ole Borneda will be released! I just HAD to post the film poster up...had to! For more information on the film, you can check out their Twitter or Facebook!

The Possession is the terrifying story of how one family must unite in order to survive the wrath of evil. Clyde and Stephanie Brenek don't care when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she bought at a yard sale. As Em’s behavior becomes more erratic, the parents Clyde and Stephanie fear the presence of a malevolent force surrounding them. They soon discover that the box was built to contain a 'dibbuk', a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its host.

Doesn't it sound ooberly creepy? Joy! Hopefully, this is another great film on it's way to become a part of the horrific kingdom!

FILM -- Popularity Killer

So, I had the awesometastical pleasure of checking out Slasher Studios very own film Popularity Killer. It's a dark comedy horror short with just a $5,000.00 budget and only seven filming days. This film was directed by Steve Goltz and written by Kevin Sommerfield. I love independent filmmakers' films. You can always see the hard work and of course they usually have a good taste for gore. So obviously, I was thrilled to spend 19 minutes checking out this film!

It pretty much starts off with a teenage girl named Caitlin. She is found murdered in back of her school, Payton High. There are mixed feelings on the girl's death because some people didn't really care for her. Now a group of teens at Payton High is kind of on edge; however, their fears don't stop them from wanting to party more. They actually decide to have a horror movie party due to the circumstances! Plus, Caitlin's boyfriend, who is a possible suspect in her murder, is attending. Soon, the teens try to discover who is killing the most popular students in school. Their friends are dying off one by one in such blunt ways!

So, this film wasn't what I thought it was going to be but not a bad way. It was actually refreshing. The only thing is that I wanted the characters to be a bit more developed. I didn't really have a connection or feel a certain way for any of them. I did notice the music in the film and thought that it fit very well though I wouldn't have settled for some of the sound effects. Overall, I did enjoy this film and thought it was filmed awesomely. I was very impressed by the shots and camera angles. Also, the actors performed impressively! I recommend this film for people who know how to enjoy independent films and appreciate slasher horrors! The art of gore in this film was pretty sensational! I give this film 3 out of 5 queen skulls! I was very impressed!

UPCOMING FILM -- Suspiria Casting

David Gordon Green’s remake of Suspiria was officially announced last month and now they have cast its lead actress. It's Isabelle Fuhrman from her roles in Orphan and a minor role in The Hungers Games. According to some sources, she has officially landed the role of Suzie in the upcoming remake!

I don't think that there should be a Suspiria remake BUT Isabelle Fuhrman is an amazing actress! So YAY! I'm happy that she's playing the lead. I hope to see more of her and I hope she doesn't let us down!

UPCOMING FILM -- Excision

One of the more truly bizarre coming of age horror stories premiered at this past January’s Sundance Film Festival. The film was acquired by Anchor Bay for release later this year. This film was directed by Richard Bates Jr. Beautiful AnnaLynne McCord (90210) plays an incredibly unattractive, messy, disturbed and delusional high school student who picks her scabs and has aspirations of a career in being a surgeon. She goes to extreme measures to earn the approval of her controlling mother.

AnnaLyne McCord's character is Pauline, a 17-year-old, alienated girl who struggles with fitting in High School along with pleasing her parents and satisfying her hardcore desire to lose her virginity. Not only that, she has grotesque curiosity for the darker side of life! Since she is considered a social outcast by everyone around her, it doesn't help that she's 'turned on' by flesh and finds herself retreating into her fantasies to become a great surgeon. Of course, she'll have to stay sane first!

Below you can enjoy the NSFW trailer!

REMAKE ALERT -- Maniac

William Lustig’s cult horror film Maniac is being re made--duh! The original film is about a schizoid serial killer who randomly stalks and kills various young women in New York. He seeks revenge for the mistreatment he received while being raised by his own abusive mother.

When I first heard they were remaking this film, I was so unsure because Joe Spinell's performance was untouchable. He oozed maniac! And when I found out that Elijah Wood (Frodo, The Lord of The Rings) took the lead role, I was still a bit unsure. But after seeing the stills, he fits the role perfectly!

In this film, Elijah Wood plays the role of a serial killer who works at a shop that sells antique mannequins. He finds victims on the internet and stalks them like prey, all the while suffering from hallucinations that throw him back into the past, where he was abused by his own mother. In his twisted mind, he's getting revenge against his mother with each kill he performs.

Enjoy the still images below!

So...this 1980's Troma remake is about three brothers on the run from the law. The brothers decide to head home to their Mother's house but to their surprise, their Mom lost their home in a foreclosure. Their Mother is a powerful person who teaches not only her sons, but the new home owners and friends a few unforgettable lessons on the way. I loved this movie! I watched it last year with my Mom and since we have the same taste, we both enjoyed!

The story focuses on Barnabas Collins who transforms into a vampire after an encounter with a woman. He's buried but then gets dug up and attempts to reintegrate with his descendants! Unfortunately, for Barnabas Collins, it doesn't stay simple. He'll have many run-ins with various monsters, ghosts, and supernatural creatures.

Lovely Molly - RELEASE DATE: May 18th, 2012
Newleywed Molly Reynolds returns to her long-abandoned family home, where horrible reminders of a nightmarish childhood begin seeping into her new life. She soon begins to slip into more evil that blurs the lines between psychosis and possession. This film will be released limitedly.

Men in Black 3 - RELEASE DATE: May 25th, 2012
Bleh...Sci fi ISH but close enough! So I must admit...I never watched the first one, FULLLY that is, and I feel awful but it's true. And I didn't even know there was a second but hey! Anyway, so it's been 15 years with the Men in Black for Agent J. But now when K’s life and the fate of the planet are put at stake, Agent J will have to travel back in time to put things right. J discovers that there are secrets to the universe that K never told him. And these secrets will reveal themselves as he teams up with the young Agent K to save his partner, the agency, and the future of humankind! I doubt that I'll go see this but if anyone else does let know your thoughts!

Chernobyl Diaries - RELEASE DATE: May 25th, 2012
A group of friends become stranded in an eerie, in-the-middle-of-nowhere city. Years before this event, there was a nuclear disaster where nature has begun to reclaim everything. Now, as the sun sets in this radioactive ghost city, inhuman cries cut through the night air. It seems they are not alone....duh! This kinda sounds like The Hills Have Eyes...I'm sure it's filmed differently but I'm talking story line.

Happy Horror!
