REMAKE ALERT -- Suspiria

David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express) has been talking about remaking Suspiria for a while, but now it's official! They will begin filming in September! A press release was issued today announcing that the project is moving forward and scheduled to begin filming this September. I have no idea why he would want to take the 1977 classic directed by the great Dario Argento to remake it; but ok. I guess he googled classic horror movies and figured he'd give it a stab.

It's going to be centered around Suzie, a bright, ambitious American student who travels to Europe to attend a prestigious ballet academy. This all occurs after a fellow student is brutally murdered along with other cruel homicides that disrupt the once quiet campus. Suzie notices that the once quiet campus may be hiding a huge secret.

So, as far as I know...casting is already underway! I bet you a million dollars there will be half naked bleached blondes!

Let's hope this film doesn't suck...even though director David Gordon Green says it'll closely follow the original. The script is very faithful to the original. It’s less about ballet and more of a story about the occult and a boarding school for girls in Germany…. I don’t want to emulate him or rip him off, I don’t want to do a shot for shot remake of it. But I do feel like it’s a springboard to a lot of huge and artful ideas.”

  1. Whats the point in a remake, the Suspiria film was the beggining of a continuous plot line in Argento's three witches story. And they cannot re make the style of his films since it is particular to a time, place and culture. I think like all re makes it is just a cheap , lazy way of finding an audience. I'll watch it though.

  2. I'll just stick to the original thanks, you can't remake a masterpiece.

  3. Really curious to see who they end up casting for each role... that'll probably make or break this movie for me.

  4. I've gone through the stages of grief with remakes and now I'm at acceptance. Some remakes suck, and some are pretty good. Hell, The Thing is a remake, and that's one of the best horror movies ever made! Suspiria, though?

    FUUUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. It's a crime to remake Suspiria, especially if the directot is David Gordon Green. I'm sure this will be a huge suckfest.
